LIVABLE CITY - LIVEABLE LIFE: ASSESSMENT OF HAPPINESS OF CITIZENS OF DANANG, A CITY IN THE CENTRAL OF VIETNAM – RESEARCH FOR SOCIAL AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTAbstract:
Abstract To increase the quality of life, social development towards sustainability, focusing on environmental quality, physical life is not enough, it is the quality of mental health of the people that needs more consideration. This paper addresses the issues of living environment development for the people of Danang City, which is considered to be the most liveable city in the central of Vietnam from enhancing positive attitudes towards life, it is to feel happier by themselves. Many people think that happiness depends on our attitude towards life. Professor Veenhoven Ruut (1942-), who has spent years researching happiness, said: "Happiness is the love of life we live in." Factors affecting human well-being are: (1) spousal relationship; (2) family relationship (parents / siblings); (3) children; (4) work; (5) health; (6) self-confidence; (7) social relationships (colleagues / friends); (8) income. The research team used 29 items of happiness (from 1 point to 6 points), by Michael Argyle and Peter Hills (2002) - Oxford Brookes University; and the questionnaire surveyed 378 staffs of the University of Da Nang. The results show that the staff are quite happy (level 5); The happiest factor is self-confidence. Factors that make unhappiness are relationships within the family; personal health status. The measures to increase of the staff's happiness to the psychological well-being (e.g. feeling stressed, sad or angry, etc); joining group activities such as yoga; conversation club for the staff, etc. KEYWORDS: happy; happiness; woman; life; mental health, confident
