Abstract:

Estuaries are ecologically and commercially important areas that are some of the most productive habitats on earth, as they provide breeding grounds for many commercially important fishery species. However, these areas have also been favoured sites for human settlement and the associated industrial activity.. Quang Nam with the development of industrial, exploitation of mineral, especially exploitation of gold resources in upstream to risk of mercury pollution in Cua Dai estuary lower branch of Thu Bon river. Evaluation of the mercury pollution in Cua Dai estuary is very necessary and use bivalves is a method with many advantages. In this study, we presented results on the ability to reflect the level of Hg pollution in the research of 2 species heamolymph clam (Meretrix meretrix Linnaeus, 1758) and clam (Corbicula sp); assess environmental quality at the Cua Dai estuary. Research results are the scientific information is very meaningful in the development of bioindicator systems and monitoring environment..
